Hi! I'm Deb Luttrell, a Quilt Shop Owner.

In 1996 I moved to Quitman, TX with the intent to raise emus. Instead I opened a little sewing center and named it Stitchin’ Heaven. I had a vision – a premier quilt shop appealing to those who love to quilt and sew and to offer the very best fabrics and supplies. I was quite the topic of conversation in Quitman when I opened this venture in a town with a population of only 1895. Most of the local residents did not know how the shop could survive and secretly whispered that I would be out of business within the year.

We did not go out of business. Rather, we were voted one of the Top

Ten Quilt Shops in North America by American Patchwork & Quilting only 3 years later. We did not go out of business. Rather, we were voted one of the Top Ten Quilt Shops in North America by American Patchwork & Quilting only 3 years later. We grew from 1000 square feet to 7200 square feet in our Quitman store. In 2012, we moved to a 7500 square feet facility in Mineola, TX – just 10 miles down the road but with twice the population with 4515 people!

Today, we have registered over 40,000 friends on our in-store mailing list and over 60,000 registered Internet friends. We offer the most beautiful fabrics in the marketplace today and host world renowned teachers including names like Eleanor Burns, Marianne Fons, John Flynn, Marti Michell, Billie Lauder, Debbie Caffrey, Judy Neimeyer, Becky Goldsmith and a host of others. In 2000 we built the Bunkhouse – a 2200 square foot log cabin designed especially for small group quilting retreats. We host The Quilter’s Hideout retreat where over 40 ladies can spend the weekend laughing, eating, and (oh yes) sewing! And, we support Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, Children’s Miracle Foundation, the Hainesville Volunteer Fire Department, the Boy Scouts of America, Project Linus, the American Cancer Society and many other charitable organizations.

In 2009, from a suggestion by a customer, we hosted our first ever quilting cruise. During the process of planning and developing this cruise I came to realize that quilt related travel is something that our customers really enjoy. So, in 2010 my son, Clay, and I ventured into the travel world offering specialty cruises and motor coach tours featuring quilting related destinations and classes. Our company, Stitchin’ Heaven Travel offers about a dozen different tours each year – something for everyone for sure!

And then, because of comments and suggestions from our customers, Lone Star Laser was started in 2012 allowing us to be able to offer laser cut fabric kits and pre-fused and laser cut appliqué projects. Clay and his wife, Rachel, manage and operate the laser business that is located in a 2000 square foot building in Whitehouse, TX. The ability to offer this type of product is just one more way we strive to meet the needs of our customers. But, our business is not just about beautiful fabric and sewing machines and scissors and needles and threads. Our business is about people. It is about Stitchin’ Heaven evangelists– people who meet others and tell them about this wonderful quilt shop. It is about developing friendships like the ones we developed
with Barbara Johnson and Beverly Wheeless and Sharon Newman before they left us to go to an even grander heaven! Our job is about inspiration, and belonging, and providing encouragement and applause.

We invite you to join our quilting and sewing family either through our brick and mortar store in Mineola or through our online store in cyberspace. Our promise is to make your shopping experience pleasant and rewarding. If you are ever in Mineola, stop in and say “Howdy!”
